Schumann Resonance – Analysis

Is the Technological Effect Caused by LEO Satellites?

On October 24-25 2020, the ‘technological effect’ that has appeared in the Schumann Resonance data charts for over a month, paused for 21 hours.

Today I decided to explore this question:

– Could the ‘technological effect’ seen in the Schumann Resonance be caused by satellites such as the new satellite constellations being launched by companies like Starlink?

I have wondered if this effect was caused by Low Earth Orbit satellite networks. Today I reveal my research into this topic.

What is the ‘technnological effect’?

– Many of you may have noticed that a strange effect has occurred in the Schumann Resonance since September 12, 2020.

– This effect comprises many vertical bars across the data chart that go vertically across the full range of the chart, from almost 0 hertz to almost 40 hertz.

What are the transmission ranges of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites and other satellites and related technologies?

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite networks, called constellations, are being launched with a focus on providing global internet services. Starlink is one of the most visible companies lauching satellites into LEO.

Starlink by SpaceX

– Satellites operate at 550 km or about 340 miles above the surface of the Earth.

https://www.spacex.com/updates/starlink-update-04-28-2020/

– In early 2000, they had a proposal for a ‘constellation’ of up to 12,000 satellites.

https://planet4589.org/astro/starsim/index.html

– Starlink currently has 700 satellites in orbit (at October 7, 2020).

– Public beta testing to begin this Fall.

– What is Starlink?

– Other satellite constellation companies include Lockheed Martin’s Telesat.

– There is a good image of a conceptual satellite constellation on Telesat’s LEO satellites web page: https://www.telesat.com/leo-satellites/.

What are the hertz ranges for LEO satellite transmissions?

Satellite communications operate in the megahertz range.

– Their ‘band’ of hertz in which they transmit is called the Ku range.

– Transmit at 14,000 – 14,500 MHz (14-15 Ghz).

– Receive at 11,700 – 12,750 MHz (11-13 Ghz).

Satellite GPS communications:

– their band of hertz in which they operate is 1,000 – 2,000 Ghz

Satellite phones:

– Their band of hertz in which they operate is 1,000 – 2,000 Mhz.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L_band

Various communications, technology and telecom transmissions.

https://www.lifewire.com/story-of-hertz-megahertz-and-gigahertz-818308

– These operate in megahertz or gigahertz.

In filings with the FCC, SpaceX LEO satellites will broadcast in the Ku range (12-18 Ghz).

Conclusion

– The Schumann Resonance data chart shows the resonances which are between 0 to 40 Hertz.

– Most satellite receiving and transmitting occurs at significantly higher ranges, such as in the Mhz or Ghz frequency ranges.

My conclusion is that satellite communications, as currently described in public information, do not appear to receive or transmit at ranges that would show up on the Schumann Resonance charts.

More than 2000 actively operating satellites orbit the Earth (at December 2019) by Deloitte.

In August 2020, Deloitte (an accounting and consulting firm) predicted that # of satellites in constellations would be 1000 by the end of 2020.

According to McKinsey consulting, at May 2020, current satellite internet proposals aim to launch 50,000 satellites over the next 10 years.
