America, Remember who you are
This poem is about September 11, 2001, a day of national and global crisis. Twenty years later, on September 11, 2021, we again face great crisis. America, remember your true strength and spirit. Remember that day twenty years ago when you helped, loved and supported each other – friend, family and stranger came together that day out of love for each other and our great country, the United States of America. We have always been a beacon of light for the world. In these tough times, let us once again be a beacon of light for each other.
America, Remember who you are

This is the day
The day that changed my life
*
The day that changed the life of so many others
The day that changed our world
*
But it did not change who we are
This day did not wilt our spirit
*
This day drew out the best in us
This day did not cause us to shirk from action
*
This day brought forth the best in our hearts
*
For regular people
Trying, suddenly, to survive
*
For regular people
trying, suddenly, to comprehend
*
This dramatic change to our world
*
We knew the world would change
We knew it was an incredible marker
*
Of what, we did not know
*
This day, brought us together
This day, caused us to reach out to each other
This day, we helped strangers out of love
This day, we held each other close
*
This day, we were all one people
Americans
Supporting each other
Crying together
Perservering together
Helping each other
*
We didn’t know it but we were
Showing our grit
Showing our mighty spirit
Showing the heart of who we are
Showing our strength
Showing our fortitude
*
America, remember
Remember who you truly are
Remember your heart
Remember your spirit
*
Rise up and remember
Remember you love God
Remember you love your family
Remember you love your community
Remember you love your country
Remember you are strong
Remember your strength, and your spirit
