I saw that many of you checked the blog on December 20, 2019, the day before the Solstice. I apologize that I have not put in an energies update.
Thank you for doing so because you have encouraged me.
The Solstice and Mom
On the day before the Solstice, that same day, Friday December 20, 2019, my mom went into the hospital with a massive stroke.
Several days beforehand I had marveled at her mental mastery.
I wondered that she could pass for someone 20 years younger, her thoughts had such clarity. And then, days later, her body completely gave out, and much of her brain. I have spent many days crying and many days simply working through the energies.
However, with being sick in the hospital, and all of the circumstances of the stroke, it left her paralyzed but able to speak fairly clearly.
Mom has been making jokes with us, freed from the need to be an authority.
The Ship From Our Past
Yet despite this incredible event a week ago, inside I feel positive and supported by the overall energies.
My mom remembered that I had asked her some time ago for my grandfather’s ship when she passed on. In the hospital, she told my sister that the ship is for me.
The beautiful blue four mast ship replica that Grandpa, my mom’s dad, created and sailed decades ago in Central Park model sailboat races.
My grandfather sailed on four mast ships across the oceans. He was a sailor in the merchant marine. When I was a child, he was the one who always had butterscotch Lifesavers, told jokes, and did silly things.
I had forgotten that from the beginning of my life, I looked at and admired this ship. It was always displayed prominently in our home.
It stunned me when I realized a fascinating ship connection – that on my other blog I write all about ships; airships and the potential for advanced technologies in the skies.
This is one of the gifts from the past, from my family home, returning. Returning in upgraded fashion. I shifted from loving the replica of my grandfather’s sailing ship as a child, to loving photographing the skies and the potential ships and technologies that may arrive.
Remembering this history is one of the unexpected gifts my mom gave me.

My relationship with my mom was complicated. There is some hard work to do. Feeling and clearing emotions. Going through memory.
The force of her personality shone through by the date she went into the hospital, at the Solstice, one of the major and meaningful dates in the natural year. The time of year in the northern hemisphere when the seeds that have been planted rest while we dream of how they may grow.
She was tough but she raised resilient children.
